New Celeb Crush

Is he not the best?  It doesn't get much better than a humble, funny man and this was very much portrayed in Colin Firth's acceptance speech for Best Actor.  He started off with, "I have a feeling my career has just peaked," and went on to say, "I'm afraid I have to warn you that I'm experiencing stirrings somewhere in the upper abdominals which are threatening to form themselves into dance moves. Which, joyous as they may be for me, they'll be extremely problematic if they make it to my legs before I get off stage."  And of course, didn't leave the stage without thanking his wife.

She's back at it...

My girl Chels has a new book coming out (!!) in May (which can be preordered here). She's also announced a new tour schedule which will guest star some of my fave round table regulars: Heather McDonald, Josh Wolf and Brad Wollack.  Tickets are already on sale here.
The new book is called "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me" and is a compliation of stories that her friends and family tell about her.  I'm anxiously awaiting this baby to hit shelves!

Look at Me Now

When these three get together, it's bound to be a hit.  We warmed up to Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes "Look at Me Now" at hip hop last night and I am digging this new jam.  This will be on Chris' new album F.A.M.E. (out March 22) which he hopes to make a double disc and call the other side Fortune.  You should check it out

Holy Hip Hop Hurting

I grew up loving dance.  I took classes from when I was 4 years old until my senior year of high school, assisted in teaching the younger classes and cheered for four years which also involved a lot of dancing.  Once I got to college, other than the occasional routine for my sorority or a fun night out, I completely stopped.  During this seemingly extra cold and long winter I've really been trying to make working out fun for myself, whether it be downloading new songs for the treadmill or trying new machines at the gym. As soon as I heard about this hip hop class in Charleston I knew it was something I had to try.  I finally made it this past Tuesday night and, three days later, I can finally walk again.  It seriously kicked my ass and I loved it!  Whitney, Taylor and I all went together and I cannot wait to go back next week.  The class moves around to different parts of Charleston - Mondays on Daniel Island, Tuesdays in Mt Pleasant, Wednesdays in West Ashley and Thursdays on IOP - and has a $10 drop-in fee each time.  The classes are an hour and fifteen minutes long, although ours ran thirty minutes over, which includes some warm up exercises, learning and performing a routine (over and over) and then cool down stretches.  There are people of all skill levels in the class so you don't feel uncomfortable and the really good ones are amazing to watch.  I highly recommend this to anyone who is trying to switch up their work out!

The King's Speech

This is a movie I wouldn't typically go see but after all of the nominations and attention it's gotten, I was intrigued.  Luckily, so was Whitney.  Since Friday night was nasty and cold, we opted for pizza, beer and Cinebarre (don't worry, we more than made up for this on Saturday night).  The movie is based on the true story of how King George VI of Britain (Colin Firth) overcame his stammer by working with a speech therapist (Geoffrey Rush) to deliver the radio broadcast at the beginning of World War II.  The relationship formed between the King and the therapist is very endearing and full of humor and wit.  I really, really enjoyed this movie and I'm looking forward to seeing how it stacks up against the competition at the Academy Awards.

Congrats Mary Frances and Austin!!

Murf is engaged!!  MF is La's older sis and one of the sweetest people I know!  I've grown up looking up to her as a role model/older sister.  When I moved to Charleston after college, she was here in dental school and we quickly became close due to nights out on the town and several road trips home to Clem.  She moved to Greenville after graduating which is where she met Austin!  They make such a cute couple and I am so excited for them!
